“Tex” Allen
“Tex” Allen was born of parents who were both artists in Texas where he became fascinated by art at a very early age. “I could draw before I could drawl,” he insists. Traveling West, he landed in Hollywood, California and learned on the job as a migrant film worker. After a decade in makeup and creature effects he began making art for other, more famous artists. “I went from sculpting ghosts, to ghost sculpting.” There is a direct line through his work in makeup and creature effects to his highly realistic and detailed work as shown in this exhibition. |
